Shame on you, America

Where do I begin? Well: This is the end for you and I and the rest of the civilised world it appears.

And this time it is really the last time for us. There is no going back to the idealistic times that you and I shared in the past.

I feel a sharp pain in my gut. My throat is hurting. My eyes are welling up and burning with anger. It feels bad I tell you. So bad you can keep your ideals to yourself this time around. You have lost any rights you had in this house of nations that you led somewhat capably until this morning.

You have lost the right to lead the free world. And you have lost any vestige of respectability the world had for you when you chose to elect a man whose ideals are rooted in all manners of despicable prejudice against people like Khizr Khan.

Where is the America that George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, James Monroe and Benjamin Franklin envisaged on July 4, 1776? Because your man in the White House does not believe America is for people of all races and faiths.

Where is the America that abolished slavery and affirmed the equality of all races on December 18, 1886? Because the man you have elected to the White House is the same man who time and again has denigrated African-Americans by refusing to rent flats to black people. The Justice Department had to sue Trump Management Company for refusing to rent apartments to blacks in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island as far back as 1973. America: This man has a history you cannot be proud of.

Where is the America that is a home for all? Because your man in the White House refuses to stay in the same room as black people if he has his way. “When Donald and Ivana came to the casino, the bosses would order all the black people off the floor,” Kip Brown, a former employee at Trump’s Castle, told the New Yorker. “It was the eighties, I was a teenager, but I remember it: they put us all in the back.”

Where is the America that gave women the vote on August 18, 1920? Because your man in the White House has no respect for women. Because your man in the White House loves to brag about groping and kissing women against their will and believes “you can do anything to women” if you are rich.

Where is the America that respects military families and values the contributions of men and women lost in battle; men and women fighting to uphold the ideals of America? Because your man in the White House denigrated a Gold Star family and reduced to ashes the sacrifices the late Army Captain Humayun Khan made for America in Iraq when he died at the age of 27 saving his fellow soldiers in 2004. Your man in the White House made Gazala Khan cry for her long lost son at the Wells Fargo Centre in Philadelphia. He made Khizr Khan cry for his dignity in front of the world. He made the world cry alongside the Khans in July. And made us stand behind Khzir Khan in New Hampshire on Monday when he exposed the bigotry your man in the White House values. Did your man respond to the questions Khzir Khan so politely asked him on Monday?

"So today, I have a few questions for Donald Trump. Donald Trump, would my son have a place in your America?" asked Mr. Khan. "Would Muslims have a place in your America? Would Latinos have a place in your America? Would African-Americans have a place in your America, Donald Trump?"

Where is the America that is home to the Statue of Liberty? Because your man in the White House hit the scene like a bad virus and infected the land with his politics of hate and derision of Muslims.

He destroyed the hopes of many in America like Typhoon Meranti in Taiwan and left nothing but wanton destruction and wailing mothers and fathers behind him.

Your man in the White House ripped to shreds the faith humanity had in the American dream and single handedly destroyed any vestige of respectability the Republican Party had in the run up to November 8, 2016.

Where is the America that was built by immigrants? Because your man in the White House rushed to lampoon Gonzalo Curiel, the federal judge presiding over a class action against the for-profit Trump University, because his mother and father emigrated to America from Mexico. Your man sought to silence Judge Curiel behind a wall of shame because of his Mexican heritage.

“We’re building a wall between here and Mexico. The answer is, he is giving us very unfair rulings — rulings that people can’t even believe.”

Is being born to Mexican parents a no-no in his Republican House of Cards?

I will tell you what America: judging a man by his roots is truly despicable. Did people ridicule Frederick Trump in this way for being born in Kallstadt, Palatinate in Bavaria? Did they question his integrity for he came from Germany?

Melania Trump is from Slovenia if I recall correctly, right? Does your man in the White House distrust her? So why the hullabaloo about Judge Curiel having Mexican parents when he was in fact born in Indiana and obtained his law degree from the Indiana University School of Law?

He is as American and patriotic as your man in the White House is. Because Judge Curiel is the man who went after Mexican drug cartels and had a bounty placed on his head. Still he is not American enough for President Trump?

How can you have a president without a moral compass? Because your man in Washington chose to denigrate Serge Kovaleski because he suffers from arthrogryposis, a condition which limits the movement of joints? That America is a malicious thing for a 77-year-old man to do.

Your man made the world cry for better days ahead. He made us yearn for a better civilisation and better leaders. He made us shun the diabolical winds of change he and his merry band of supporters wish upon the free world.

Shame on you, America. Because your man in the White House played the race card and won; you lost us: the free world.
